Verbier International School to offer world-class Cambridge IGCSE curriculum
The Secondary School of VIS is pleased to announce that we have been approved to become a Cambridge International School. This means that we will be offering IGCSE exams for Year 11s starting from the June 2021 series, as well as preparing Year 10 and Year 11 students for future success aligned with this outstanding curriculum.
During the rigorous application process, VIS was visited by the Cambridge International Regional Representative who inspected VIS according to the following key areas:
- Verbier International School’s mission and educational values;
- VIS’ school management and leadership;
- The quality of teaching and learning at VIS;
- The physical environment of the VIS Secondary School, the Science Labs, and our outdoor play areas;
- VIS’ adherence to legal requirements, such as fire safety, child protection, first aid certification, and government authorisation to exist as a school in Valais.
VIS is now approved to teach the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum for Years 10 and 11, as well as take part in Cambridge professional development opportunities and have access to a vast network of curriculum resources and partner schools.
Annette Sokolowski has been appointed to act as our Cambridge Exams Officer. She will be responsible for the direction of studies and will oversee the exam process – from preparation and registration to invigilation and results.
Cambridge IGCSE is the world’s most popular international qualification for 14 to 16-year-olds. Every year, nearly a million students from 10 000 schools in 160 countries prepare for their future with Cambridge programmes and qualifications. Success with Cambridge often gives students admission to the world’s best universities – in the US, the UK, Australia, Canada, Germany, and beyond.
Christine Özden, Chief Executive of Cambridge Assessment International Education, said: “We are delighted to announce that Verbier International School has joined our global community of Cambridge schools and we look forward to a long and productive relationship with them.”
